Women’s basketball extends streak, beats Shockers

The win streak is now at nine, which is the most consecutive wins for any women’s basketball team under current head coach, Jim Flannery.

The Jays tallied their ninth consecutive win with a thrilling 49-47 win on the road against Wichita State. With the win the Jays now have a record of 14-8 while the Shockers fell to 10-12.

The Jays were propelled by the impressive play of junior forward Megan Neuvirth who scored at game high 24 points and added nine rebounds. Sophomore Kelsey Woodard was the only other Jay in double figures, adding 10 points. Wichita State was led by guard Haleigh Lankster who scored 14, while fellow guard Jacie Hoyt added 13 points and eight rebounds.

They return home for their next game this Thursday against Evansville.
