New food options added to Wareham Court

In Wareham Court, Creighton students can β€œgo Greek” any day of the week.

As a part of the new options in Wareham Court in the Skutt Student Center, students may now get gyros or sliced beef, depending on their taste. The changes are a part of a plan instituted by the Skutt advisory board to continue improving on-campus meal options.

The Skutt advisory board is a group made up of students and staff that work together to try and improve the student center.

Last year, Wareham Court added Mein Bowl, which provides authentic Asian cuisine. This year, the board decided to add the Mediterranean CafΓ© and Corner Market. Between the two, it is clear that revamping Wareham Court has been a priority.

The new options add a newer feel to the entire area. With a few new things at the grill, including hush puppies and catfish, there are plenty of updated menus.

Considering all the changes, the service line is still not too cluttered. By moving the sushi station slightly closer to the grill, there was plenty of room to offer the Mediterranean Cafe to students. The wrap station moved to a new spot in order to make room for the Corner Market.

Ryan Lahne, the director of Skutt and Harper Centers, wanted to offer more options to students, and Greek food seemed like a logical alternative to the grill, Blimpie and Mein Bowl. According to Lahne, theΒ Greek addition was a result of a survey and the observed success of Amsterdam Falafel & Kabob, a Greek restaurant in Dundee. With more variety and popularity, Wareham Court becomes a more desirable destination, encouraging students to eat and meet friends in the student center.

In addition to the Mediterranean CafΓ©, Wareham Court now offers the Corner Market, which aims to provide a home-style meal. With freshly carved meat, freshly baked bread and a variety of sides, the Corner Market is the place to go for a hearty, delicious meal.

And things have been a huge hit.

β€œSo far, we’ve received tremendous reviews,” director of retail Mike Fleming, said. β€œStudents enjoy the variety and quality of the food. It’s an important balance, and Wareham Court strives to offer it.”

As the food options continue to improve, students will have many dining options to explore, which is exactly what the Skutt advisory board is aiming to provide. The Skutt advisory board has been working on a long-term plan to improve dining in Wareham Court.

By making Wareham Court a more popular destination, the Skutt staff hopes to make the student center a more prominent place. Food will have an impact on students; it is the Skutt advisory board’s goal to make it a positive one.

Considering the amount of changes so far, it’s clear that Wareham Court will continue to offer a unique dining option.
