Tri Delta Dress Drive

The Tri Delta chapter on Creighton’s campus recently hosted the sorority’s annual Promise a Prom Dress drive that benefits patients of St. Jude Children’s

Research Hospital.

The Promise a Prom Dress drive asks women to donate gently used prom dresses that are then sent to patients at St. Jude in Memphis, Tenn.

Patients ages 12-18 who missed their school dances or prom because of their illness get the chance to pick the dress of their choice and attend the St. Jude

Spring Formal.

Catherine Bopp, a member of Tri Delta who helped organize the drive, explained why this event is special to

Tri Delta.

β€œThis event is so important to Tri Delta because it is an easy way for us to spread awareness about the great things St. Jude does,” Bopp said. β€œIt is also a way for people to contribute to a great cause without sacrificing that much.”

Haley Hilmes, a Creighton freshman and first year member of Tri Delta, explains what she took from the fundraiser.

β€œI think it was really great because prom was such a big moment for me in high school that I wanted to be able to help others have the same fun experience,” Hilmes said.

This year Creighton’s Tri Delta chapter collected about 45 dresses, but is still willing to accept dresses for next year.

Bopp finds giving a girl the opportunity to experience prom when she normally would not have very satisfying.

Β β€œThe most rewarding part of this event is to think that there is some girl that gets to experience that moment of putting on a long pretty dress and feeling beautiful,” Bopp said. β€œFor just a moment, they can escape their health problems and just be a teenage girl.”

To donate a dress simply bring your gently used and dry cleaned dress to a member of Tri Delta.
