This past weekend, I ventured to the movies for the first time in months. It was a great movie. I would highly recommend it.
Go see the Justin Bieber movie “Never Say Never.” Not only was there good music, but if you’re into the whole 3-D thing, that option is also available.
Now you might be judging right now that a college sophomore is admitting to ‘Bieber fever,’ but put aside the fact that he’s 16 and more famous than most of us will ever be. His music is legitimately good.
I appreciate how he became famous. Did you know that he is an amazing drummer? He was discovered on YouTube by Scooter Braun. Braun introduced Bieber to Usher, and the rest is history.
Bieber had a humble beginning in Canada and became a famous pop star in a matter of a few years. Soon after meeting Usher, Bieber signed a recording contract with Island Records. In the last four years, he has already achieved more than many artists achieve in a lifetime.
The movie describes some of the initial difficulties of getting radio stations to play Bieber’s first single. Touring the country and having him play live in different radio studios solved the problem. Local DJs were so impressed that they began to play his song. This is also where Bieber’s dedicated fan base had its beginning.
Having Usher’s support has no doubt been of great help to Bieber. At least the way the movie portrays him, he strikes me as a normal kid. He doesn’t seem self-absorbed and still enjoys hanging out with his friends from Canada.
I know there are a ton of jokes in circulation about Justin Bieber, but give him a break. He is only 16, and I’m sure there is a lot of pressure when in the spotlight to be a good role model. I can honestly say that I was not a fan of Bieber until I saw his new movie. And I didn’t even see it in 3-D.
The movie shows parts of his concert, too. One of my favorite parts was when Bieber sings “One Less Lonely Girl,” and one girl from the audience gets to go up on stage, and he serenades her. He gives her a bouquet and everything. Let’s just be honest; he may be 16, but he is certainly good with girls.
The other thing I liked was that after each concert is sold out, Bieber’s team hits the streets and finds fans who weren’t able to get tickets. They give them free tickets on the floor.
Many fans who are shown in this film were crying. It was unreal. And I’m assuming that most people have seen the YouTube video “3 year old crying over Justin Bieber.” It’s cute in a twisted sort of way, because a girl that young doesn’t really have any business crying over boys.
What did Justin Bieber do about this little girl’s YouTube sensation with over 20,000,000 views? He surprised her on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and visited with her in person. Now that’s fan appreciation.
I know that sometimes Justin Bieber gets a bad rap for being young and singing about love and things that he doesn’t really know a lot about. But think about it. How much more does Taylor Swift know about love? I don’t see people up in arms about her.
I think the real rift here is boys. Justin Bieber has a very small male fan-base, and I think the reason guys make jokes about Bieber is because they are intimidated. There are few males in America who can gather such a vast crowd of screaming, crying, obsessive girls.
Of course, most girls like Justin Bieber, this one included. I didn’t like him for quite some time, because it seemed weird to listen to someone younger than I.
The same can be said of Miley Cyrus. I didn’t like her music, first because she was a Disney icon, but even after she broke away and made her own album, I didn’t listen to her music. I just couldn’t get past it because she’s younger than I am. I realized that I did the same thing with Justin Bieber.
I’d like to offer an official apology. Justin Bieber, I’m sorry. I won’t look down on you anymore because you’re younger than I am.
As more proof that he is a baller, “Glee” did a Bieber episode. For “Glee” to recognize how amazing this kid is says a lot about how awesome he truly is.
I suppose the point of this article is to tell you to give Justin Bieber a chance. For those of you who already like him, I’m joining your ranks. For those of you who tell jokes about Bieber, go and see the new movie, and then make your judgements.
