Junior Marcus Zegarowski announced Tuesday afternoon that he will enter the 2021 NBA Draft.
“Thank you Creighton for making my college experience so special,” he said in a tweet. “I will forever be a Bluejay.”
The announcement follows a season where he led the Bluejays to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 1974.
Zegarowski averaged 15.8 points per game this season and led the team in total points with 459.
“Without the injuries he had to fight through this year, the guy would have been a slam dunk All-American again, first or second team, because he’s played at such a high level and impacted winning in so many different ways. He’s back healthy,” coach Greg McDermott said of Zegarowski’s season following the team’s loss to Gonzaga. “He’s got an unbelievable competitive nature that everybody’s seen. It’s been an absolute pleasure to coach.”
Zegarowski started the season as the Big East preseason player of the year following an injury that stopped his sophomore season, and he sat out two games this season because of injury.
“All the hard work, the adversity and the grind led me to appreciate the incredible experience here at Creighton,” he said.
This year’s draft is scheduled for July 29.
