Creighton’s volleyball team jumped four spots to No. 10 in rankings released by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Monday.
This ranking puts the Jays only three spots away from their highest ever ranking of No. 7 in a poll released late August 2017 and is their fifth time breaking the top 10.
After Creighton’s loss to No. 7 Nebraska on Sept. 6, they jumped back to beat both Wichita State and Iowa State at the Bluejay Invitational last weekend.
"This No. 10 ranking will be a huge confidence boost for our team. It's just great to see that all of our hard work is paying off and the AVCA is recognizing that hard work," said senior outside hitter and MVP of the Bluejay Invitational, Jaali Winters.
According to gocreighton.com, the Bluejays have been ranked in every AVCA poll since Oct. 2016.
"We have a lot of potential still," said Winters. "We won't get complacent with a No. 10 ranking."
This weekend the Jays will travel to Champagne, Ill. to compete in the Illini Classic where they will face Lipscomb, Northern Iowa and No. 8 Illinois.
