Women’s basketball secured the sixth seed in the NCAA tournament as they await the matchup against Mississippi State in Creighton’s  first round of the tournament, the stage set for the Bluejays to make another deep run mirroring last year’s success.

The Creighton Women’s Basketball Team (14-16, 7-10 Big East) will begin the Big East Tournament in Chicago on Saturday March, 5th. They will face the Providence Friars in the first round of the Big East Tournament.

The Creighton women’s basketball team was fresh off of a four-game win streak heading into Chicago to visit No. 24 DePaul on Friday evening. The win streak came to an abrupt end as the 24th ranked Blue Demons handled Creighton with ease; winning by the score of 81-63. 

Opening weekend could not have gone much better for the Creighton women’s basketball team as it knocked off Wichita State and Marist in dominating fashion en route to a 2-0 start in a pair of home games. 

One might guess that a team featuring 10 freshmen and sophomores and just two seniors is inexperienced. Though the team can’t deny its abundance of young players, the Creighton women’s basketball team has a better way to describe itself: deep.

Despite cutting a 16-point second half deficit to three with less than two minutes to play, the Bluejays season ended their in the first round of the WNIT on Thursday.
