Creighton earned its first home win over Missouri State since 1998 in four sets on Friday night. With the win, coming after 24 days away from the Civic Auditorium, the Jays are 5-5 on the season and 2-1 in Missouri Valley Conference play.
Senior right side/outside hitter Amanda Cvejdlik and junior middle blocker Jessica Houts led the Jays with 17 kills each in the 25-19, 25-21, 23-25, 25-18 match. Senior setter Korie Lebeda scored her fourth consecutive double-double with 51 assists and 10 digs, and senior libero Bianca Rivera led the defense with a season-high 29 digs.
After Creighton won the first two sets, Missouri State made a late comeback to win the third. The Jays used the forced fourth set to get another early lead and put away the Bears for good on a kill by Cvejdlik.
Missouri State fell to 8-6 on the season and 0-2 in the Valley.
The Jays return to the Civic Saturday night to take on No. 14 Wichita State, one of only six undefeated teams in the nation.
