The women’s basketball team lost by a mere four points Sunday against Iowa State. Junior Chevelle Herring turned out her second-straight career high in points, scoring 24. The guard had 19 points against Nebraska last week. Her outstanding performance, in which she played all 40 minutes, was not enough for the Bluejays to pull out a victory, however.
The score was tied at 59 with 1:04 after two free throws by Herring. The Jays came up short in the last minute to end the game, 59-63.
Another high scorer was Kristina Voss, who ran up 16 points and blocked three shots. Megan Neuvirth added 14 point along with nine rebounds.
The Jays were without Sam Schuett and Michelle Kaus, who will both miss the remainder of the season due to injuries. Schuett is out with an ankle injury and Kaus with a torn ACL.
The Bluejays will hit the road to take on Saint Louis Tuesday at 7 p.m.
