Creighton baseball lost 4-3 and 7-5 in a doubleheader against Sam Houston State on Saturday.
In game one of the doubleheader, the Jays lost in 10 innings after jumping out to an early lead. Senior first baseman Darin Ruf hit his first home run of the season, giving the Jays a 1-0 lead. Sophomore third baseman Jimmy Swift added to the lead, driving in junior outfielder Nick Becker.
In game two, the Jays took a 2-1 lead in the top of the second, which was their only lead of the game. Ruf shined in the Jays loss, going 4-4 with five RBIs, tying his career high.
The Jays face the Bearkats one more time, Sunday at 1 p.m.
