Creighton continued its play at the Tulsa Select Festival after starting out 2-1 Sunday afternoon as the team played the host school, Tulsa University Warhawks. Tulsa jumped out to a 1-0 lead after a leadoff homerun to start the game and never looked back. Despite out-hitting the Warhawks 7-6, Creighton dropped the game in a 4-1 decision just hours after losing to University of Louisiana-Monroe.
CU got its only run in the seventh inning as sophomore infielder Liz McKewon scored on a double to right field hit by junior utility player Renae Sinkler. Seven different Jays had hits against Tulsa but could only manage a single run. Junior pitcher Tara Oltman threw a complete game and allowed six hits, four earned runs with five strikeouts and two walks.
The second loss of the day drops Creighton to 5-4 on the season as they head to the Sooner Legends Invitational in Norman, Okla. hosted by the Oklahoma Sooners. There, the team will face Saint Louis University and OU twice on Saturday and again on Sunday.
