The Creighton Men’s Basketball team lives to see another day as the Bluejays rally in the final minutes for a 73-71 victory in the first round of the NIT over the Falcons of Bowling Green.
“We had a real shaky start,” head coach Dana Altman said. “We didn’t play with the energy and focus I thought we would.”
The Jays were ice cold in the first half shooting 0-11 from three-point range. Bowling Green came out shooting lights out, hitting 6 of its first 9 three-pointers to take a 14 point lead, its largest of the night, with 8:27 minutes left in the first half.
Creighton was led in scoring by sophomore guard P’Allen Stinnett with 18 points who went 5-for-8 on the court going 8-of-9 on free throw attempts. Junior guard Justin Carter shot 5-for-10 going 3-for-3 from the free throw line to finish with 14 points and six rebounds.
The Bluejays will host the University of Kentucky Wildcats in the second round of the NIT on Monday, March 23. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m. CST at Qwest Center Omaha.
