As the school year comes to a close, final exams are not the only agenda items on the minds of the Creighton Ultimate Frisbee Team.
This weekend, the team will be traveling to South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D., for a very competitive tournament. Among the teams at the tournament, the Bluejays will face off against the University of Wisconsin, University of Kansas, University of Minnesota, SDSU and Carleton College (Minn.).
Arts & Sciences junior Steve Ducey has been pleased with the way the team has played this year and expects great things from the tournament this weekend in South Dakota.
“I expect us to fare well against the competition,” he said. “We are taller, faster, smarter and just better than the other teams that will be there.”
Ducey has seen a vast amount of improvement from last year to this year’s Ultimate Frisbee Team.
“We have become way better this year because we have lots of good newcomers,” Ducey said. “I really think Kimmie Volk, our new captain, has been just exceptional.”
The team has already been on a trip to Las Vegas, Nev., where they played very well.
Ducey has kind words for the team as they practice hard and continue to do well as the end of the season is right around the corner.
“I would like to point out how dedicated the team has been in practice,” he said. “We have had really strenuous practices of late and everyone has stepped up the intensity. That should hopefully pay off in the tournament this weekend.”
