Mad Hatter Day

I decided I would indeed make my weekly blog posts about those mundane holidays hardly anyone takes note of.

The next noteworthy holiday is on Tuesday, October 6th – Mad Hatter Day. This is a day to celebrate silliness. Mad Hatter Day is a day where the nonsense we usually have to pretend is sane can be called madness. And, of course, the superficially crazy things that really make sense can be called sane.

Mad Hatter Day began in Boulder, Colorado in 1986. The date of the holiday itself was taken from the “10/6” on the slip of paper the Mad Hatter’s hat bears. This site has a lot of information on the holiday. What goes? What doesn’t? What kind of craziness? Check the site out, you’ll get a laugh. Although, one thing to keep in mind: keep the pranks for April Fool’s Day, don’t hurt anyone.

And, of course, I know everyone is at least somewhat excited for Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland coming in March 2010!!
