Last weekend, I strolled alone the sidewalks in the old market looking for a really good brunch with my friends. Before we got downtown we had stopped by our favorite local diner Lisa’s radial cafΓΒ© on the way downtown, but it was PACKED, as it was after church and all. Disappointed, we drove to 10th street and parked our car.
The upstream is a great restaurant for dinner, and an occasional game of pool, so I thought their Sunday brunch buffet would be great. We looked at the selection and decided to try it out.
Boy do I regret that decision. I first got some pan friend seasoned, quartered potatoes, which happens to be usually my favorite. Not only were they cold, but they were over cooked and poorly seasoned. After that I tried some of the eggs. Brandeis in texture, they were definitely a disappointment. The omelet bar looked good, but my friend complained that his vegetables did not taste fresh, and it was salty as well. My good friend Bridget went to the carving station, and her top round steak was so tough she could barely eat it.
In all, I did enjoy the small pastries they had, and the diet cokes (I had about 10 it was wayyy too early.) However, I would say that for 16.95 I was most certainly disappointed.
Upstream has great appetizers and dinners are fine, but their brunch needs to be avoided, with any excuse.
