The Jays beat the Missouri State Bears 2-1 in overtime to advance to the Missouri Valley Conference Championship.
Freshman midfielder Laura Nasseri scored the winning goal with 2:30 left in the first overtime. It was Nasseri’s second goal of the season. Freshman forward Brittney Neumann received the assist on the goal.
The lone goal for the Bears was Missouri State’s first goal in Omaha against Creighton since Oct. 8, 2000, covering more than six games and 636:11 minutes.
This was the first time Creighton had ever beat Missouri State twice in one season.
The Jays return to action Sunday to play top-seeded Illinois State for the MVC title. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
