New sushi better than expected

The food at Creighton is usually in question for the average student. Something new comes along, and the students panic.

Especially with something as delicate as sushi.

Contrary to popular belief, sushi originated in Southeast Asia. When it was adopted by the Japanese, it slowly evolved into the excellent food that most Westerners know and love.

I jumped at the idea of having sushi in a close and familiar place. And for a fairly good price-to-quantity ratio, I thought it was worth a shot.

Several other people have tested the fates and tried some of Skutt’s sushi.

“It isn’t terrible,” said Lis Martin, Arts & Sciences sophomore. “I would say that Blue is better, but still, it’s a good try.”

“It really depends on which roll you get,” Arts & Sciences sophomore Dylan MacInerney commented. “I would say it’s a roll of the dice if it is good or bad.”

I decided to test my own luck. I chose the grilled salmon roll, and I watched the chef make it.

After grabbing a pair of chopsticks, some soy sauce and wasabi, I took the first bite.

Only one word came to mind: mediocre. Not great, but not bad.

I can’t help to think of the rest of the food at Creighton, and how it all seems mediocre. Just another dish to add to the list.
