Itβs finally here, seniors. The day that you all felt was an eternity away has now arrived for you to face head on. Just four years ago, you all entered Creighton University eager and ready to fulfill your childhood dreams. It started with your freshman year and a commitment to becoming doctors, lawyers, businessmen, teachers, etc. Before you knew it, sophomore year hit, and many of you realized that your dreams and aspirations had significantly changed, and it was time to take some action. Soon after that, you all entered junior year and let your true scholars out as you studied all day long in order to pursue your dreams, and now, you all are closing one of the most memorable years of your lives.
These past four years have consisted of some of your biggest accomplishments and finest days. On the other hand, youβve all likely had to deal with failure and disappointment that only made you appreciate the beauty of success and perseverance more.
You are all about to enter a new world, a world which many have warned you about: the βgrown-up world.β
In hopes of making the journey over that bridge to adulthood easier on all of you, I offer two pieces of advice.
One, never let an experience of downfall hinder your perseverance. Yes, it is undeniably difficult to accept a moment in which we didnβt shine to our fullest potential, but I encourage each and every one of you to see the brighter side of not succeeding right away. Allow the experience of downfall to ignite a spark, a spark consisting of drive, hope and courage. We have all been fortunate enough to attend Creighton University, and Creighton has shown us why. Itβs been a place where we have been challenged, reformed and improved to reach our fullest capabilities.
Second, have the courage to challenge your peers, authority and the world, for great success comes with pushing the norm. Follow your passions, for they are the promises that will guide you to greater feats. And remember that individuality is the basis to keep you moving forward to commit to your passions.
You have all completed a truly trying time. College is far from easy. Being independent for the first time, studying the nights and days away and diving into numerous activities kept all of you busy and on your toes.
Seniors, we couldnβt be more upset about losing such a wonderful group that has helped all of us see the bright futures that lay ahead of us. Weβll miss you, but will continue to provide our unconditional support as you all take your first steps into a brand new world. Thanks for everything seniors; you will be missed! Roll Jays!
