I think itβs safe to say that fall is finally here. The commencement of September typically signals when it’s time to wave goodbye to the sweet months of summer and welcome in the crispness of the new season.
Temperatures are dropping, Trader Joes is stocking its shelves with fall flavored goodies and the green leaves are being overtaken by the warm-toned shades of the season.
The only thing that could make this list better is the perfect Netflix show to cozy up with and watch while embracing the cooler weather. The colder, gray days of fall call for lots of movies and television shows.
There is nothing quite like cozying up on a chilly day and putting on a comfort show. I can always get behind a rom-com movie night or Harry Potter marathon.
While these are great options, I believe there is a better one that stands above and beyond all the others. When the months start ending in β-ber,β it is time to crack open your computer and start watching Gilmore Girls.
What better way to make it feel like fall than to watch mother- daughter duo Lorelai and Rory Gilmore wander through Stars Hollow?
I donβt think it fully feels like autumn is here until the catchy theme song, βWhere You Leadβ by Carole King, starts playing on a regular basis. I started my yearly Gilmore Girls rewatch last week.
Typically, when September commences. I start the show from the beginning. This year, I decided to try something new. I started watching the show from its fourth season. Like many others, I primarily watch the show between the months of September and December.
With this tendency, I donβt finish the series at one time. I only make it to about season four before taking a break until the following year.
In order to get some new episodes on my screen this year, I am trying out this new tactic, and so far, I have been loving it. I encourage all of the team Logan people (easily the best team) to do the same.
I have probably rewatched the Dean era episodes at least six times, and while they are certainly classics, I have enjoyed seeing Roryβs other contenders this year, especially when those contenders are named Logan.
The best part about watching Gilmore Girls in the fall is that the cozy town of Stars Hollow seems to exist in a constant state of autumn. Almost every episode feels like the perfect fall day.
The girls are always sipping their coffee, nestled up in sweaters and exploring as they pass by pumpkins and orange foliage. The weather is consistently crisp, and the aesthetic is the most picture-perfect fall essence.
Stars Hollow always has a quirky festival or occasion it is preparing for. Oftentimes, these town events correlate with the seasons. While the vibe of the series definitely speaks most loudly in the fall, the themes of the show can be applied all year round.
There are some beautiful messages that come up over and over again. One of the most prominent themes is the power of female friendship. Lorelai and Rory will put each other first no matter what.
They demonstrate a super authentic human relationship. We watch the two banter on and on. We follow along as they grow together, argue, make up, laugh, cry and experience the little joys of life. At the end of the day, Gilmore Girls keeps it real on the screen.
