Creighton Universityβs iJay store is offering a new service: the repair program.
The program was new last semester and allows students to bring in their broken or damaged Apple devices into the store for repair.
According to Heider College of Business senior Kate Lembree, a member of the iJayβs marketing team, the price for repairs will depend on multiple factors. Some students will be able to have lower costs of repair if they have an Apple Care warranty on the device. The type of device will also change the price of repairs for students.
Lembree said the program will accept all Apple Care warranties on all devices.
The only devices the iJay does not repair or handle are iPhones and Windows devices.
The iJay also offers students a practicum program.
βThe iJay is one of the four practicum programs offered by Creighton to their students to gain real-world experience while in the classroom,β Lembree said. βThe iJay is the first student-run Apple store. Students are put on teams to help amplify their interests and experiences during their undergraduate experience.β
Lembree said that there is only one other practicum that is similar to the iJay, the iHub at the University of South Carolina. The iHub is the second authorized campus Apple store that is run by students.
The iJay has multiple departments that are staffed with students. The teams include: the Branding team; Finance team; Events and Outreach team; Web Development and Analytics team; and Repair team.
The recruitment for these teams happens every semester and requires students to fill out applications and participate in interviews.
