Creighton players working for ESPN

Some Creighton students are getting a glimpse of life behind the scenes of ESPN.

Chad Millard and Kaleb Korver, two players from the Creighton men’s basketball team, worked for ESPN at the College World Series for last two weeks.

Their main job is to make sure that each camera operator has a fresh 10-pound battery at the start of each hour. Additionally, when all the games are finished for the day, they assist with any trash pick up on the field and ensure the dugouts are clean.

Millard and Korver had plenty of time to check out the games and meet a couple of the players on the visiting teams.

Korver had a chance to sit down to talk with Roy Williams, the head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels men’s basketball team. Coach Williams was there rooting for the North Carolina baseball team.

“That was the best conversation I have ever had with a person, he really gave me a new insight on life and basketball,” Korver said.

Millard bragged about his chance to eat in the same area as ESPN reporter Erin Andrews.

The Creighton players have a hard schedule trying to deal with summer workouts and job requirements in the same day. Korver and Millard had to arrive at work everyday for at 11 a.m. Prior to that, they fit in an 8:30 a.m. workout.

“It’s hard when you have to work out, then work all day. It just takes so much out of you,” said Millard.

Millard and Korver said the long days have been worth it, and they enjoyed their experience working at the College World Series.

“I love it. I had a chance to see very good baseball, meet famous people, and the bonus was getting paid,” Millard said.
