The Creighton volleyball team started off Missouri Valley Conference play with a 4-set (25-9, 19-25, 25-23, 25-14) win against Bradley Friday at Sokol Arena.
A crowd of 1,013 turned out for the Jays’ first home game since the Bluejay Invitational Aug. 28-29.
The Jays started off strong in the first set, but Bradley got out to an early lead to take the second set. A 6-0 serving run by senior middle blocker Lauren Bloemke turned the match back into the Jays’ favor late in the third set, and they put the match away in the fourth.
Junior outside hitter Allie Oelke had a season-high 17 kills and added 11 digs for a double-double.
Creighton (3-7, 1-0 MVC) returns to Valley action tonight, hosting Northern Iowa (10-2, 1-0) at 7.
