Creighton women’s soccer advanced to 7-4-1 in their 4-2 win over Wright State on Wednesday. Junior forward Brittney Neumann and senior forward Andrea Zuniga led the way, each scoring two goals apiece.
Wright State scored with 13:27 on the clock in the first half, shortly followed by a goal from Neumann with the assist coming from sophomore midfielder Lauren Cingoranelli. Wright State then scored again in the 17th minute of game. Zuniga would tie the game in the 23rd minute.
The first half ended 2-2, with both teams trading goals.
The Bluejays dominated the second half with the first goal scored by Zuniga, followed by Creightonβs fourth goal in the 69th minute by Neumann.
βAfter giving up an early goal and then coming back to score four, I was very pleased with the attack tonight,β said head coach Bruce Erickson. βBrittney [Neumann] and AZ [Andrea Zuniga] in particular, getting a couple goals.Β It helps their confidence, but more importantly I thought we had a good 10 chances tonight.Β Iβll take this result.β
The Creighton womenβs team hosts its next match at Morrison Stadium on Oct. 9 against University of Kansas.
