Club Swagger brings out ‘Jersey’ in Nebraska

On the hit reality TV showΒ β€œJersey Shore”,Β Mike Sorrentino, akaΒ β€œThe Situation,” teaches us to live by the mantra — G.T.L: Gym, Tan, Laundry.

While you won’tΒ find many in Nebraska with orange spray tans or Snooki hair, Creighton students managed to find their inner β€œJersey” at Club Swagger this past Saturday night.

Held at the Glo Lounge in MidTown, students were not afraid to bust out dance moves like the β€œwobble” and the β€œdougie” to DJ β€œWhen” Ngyuen’s mixes.

The event was sponsored by the IRHG, CSU Program Board, PEAC and MidTown with free admission and transportation to the venue: The Glo Lounge. Located on the second floor of MidTown theaters, the location boasts a breath-taking view of brightly lit MidTown to enjoy.

While the club is usually open to 21 and over, the event was even a great place to take Little Jays (14+) who were already here for the weekend. In order to help get the crowd even more excited and pumped up for the night, the Club Swagger staff gave out free t-shirts and free shutter shades to attendees.

β€œOne of the ushers from the Lounge came running in and taught everyone how to β€˜wobble’. He was ridiculously good at it and got the whole dance floor going,” said Arts & Sciences sophomore Jeanne White who helped lead the organization of the event.

To cool off, Club Swagger also offered free mocktails which was a fun way to cool off and take a break from dancing. Going to the bar for a few beverages was a great chance to catch up with friends at the bar and even make new friends with other attendees.

During the week students usually banish themselves to the library to study by themselves. However, for the night, it was time to have fun with their fellow Creighton students.

β€œPeople who I didn’t know where cheering me on when I was doing the β€˜dougie’. It was like one big happy family dancing with one another,” Nursing freshman Jasmine Knox said.

If you didn’t get a chance to go because you were busy at the weekend premiere of “The Hunger Games”, you won’tΒ have to worry.

β€œClub Swagger will become an annual event and I’m sure it will be back next year,” White said.

Don’t pack up your dancing shoes and shades quite yet because before you know it, it’ll be time again to show everyone just how much β€˜swag’ you’ve have!
