Twisted Fork is traditional comfort food with a spin

Looking for a great place to eat out on the weekend?

Twisted Fork, located in the Old Market at 1014 Howard St. is a great choice. Chandeliers, velvet walls, antique mirrors and great food are all designed to create a relaxing atmosphere. This little restaurant is perfect for anyone who wants a great meal, without spending a lot of money.

A great meal takes on a whole new meaning here. Don’t expect to see the traditional burger, fries and side salad at Twisted Fork. The menu is categorized into sections such as β€œstarters,” β€œthings you don’t rope” and β€œenders.” Starters and enders are fairly easy to figure out, but things you don’t rope isn’t quite as clear. This section of the menu includes the chuck wagon chicken pot pie, smoked gouda mac β€˜n cheese, blackened salmon tacos, a grilled chicken plate, chili relleno, santΓ© fe tilapia and salmon filet. Yes, very random, but very delicious. Be ready to try new things and be pleasantly surprised as you enjoy them.

Many times when going out to eat, you will find that the atmosphere, food and prices are fairly good, but the waiters may be a little rude or forgetful The waiters at Twisted Fork, however, are all very personable and will get your order right the first time. They are outgoing and genuinely want you to have a great experience while eating. They will take care of you and make sure you will want to come back again and again.

Twisted Fork is usually busy, but the wait time is almost never longer than 10 or 15 minutes. Reservations are available if you want to make sure that a table is ready when you walk in. A typical dining experience is as follows. You are seated at a comfortable table and told a waiter will be right with you to take your drink order. There is enough to time to figure out what you would like to drink from the extensive selection. These include typical sodas, mocktails and, of course, the wine menu. After your drink order is placed, you have time to look at the menu to choose your meal. There are starters, eclectic salads and soups, exotic sandwiches, the best Omaha steaks with different toppings and seasonings, creative burgers and desserts.

Having enough room to be able to consider the dessert menu can be difficult because the main meal is so delicious and filling that you will want to eat the entire portion. However, if you do decide to get dessert, you won’t be disappointed. Mouth-watering choices include an apple pear crisp,Β s’more brownies, apricot raisin bread pudding and molten lava chocolate cake.

It is unlikely you will be disappointed if you eat lunch or dinner at Twisted Fork. Come in with an empty stomach and be prepared to leave happy and full.
