Fr. Lannon Back on Campus

Fr. Lannon is back! After a nearly 2-month sick leave, our president has officially returned to campus. He was greatly missed at the Christmas at Creighton lighting ceremony, and every other event since.Β

Dr. O’Connor, Creighton’s first provost, temporarily stepped in during Fr. Lannon’s absence, even after only working at Creighton for a few short months. I interviewed him earlier today, and he reiterated the fact that filling in for the president was a group effort. He said it could not have been done successfully without the combined efforts of the staff. The filling in of such a pivotal position was not an easy task, but was made easier with the teamwork and support given by staff and students alike. The Creighton Community pulled together and helped however they could.Β

β€œI am proud of the way the community stepped up in a time of need,” he said. Dr. O’Connor said he and the rest of the staff are glad to have him back, and his absence made them realize how many people it really took to do Fr. Lannon’s job.Β

Besides staff members, students are happy he is back as well. Katie Dillon, a sophomore, said, β€œAll is right with Creighton again now that Fr. Lannon is back on campus.” Logan Brewster, a junior Theology major, also commented on the return of the president and said he was happy when he found out that Fr. Lannon had returned to campus. We all missed Fr. Lannon and are happy he has returned and is healthy again.Β
