A locally owned and operated gift and art boutique, True Blue Goods and Gifts opened in July.Β The boutique is located on 1320 Mike Fahey St. and specializes in eclectic and unique gifts.
One of the three owners, Jodie McGill β who is also a full-time attorney at McGill Law, P.C., L.L.O and a Creighton alumna β said the store was βa dream come true.βΒ
The boutique is curated by three friends, mothers and store partners: McGill, Melissa Williams and Jessica Mogis. A former nurse (Williams) and a former teacher (Mogis), they are looking forward to a new adventure shared with the community of Omaha.Β
The store started out as a βsomedayβ thought until the dream became a reality for the friends.Β
With their different backgrounds split between nursing, teaching, writing and legal services, the three partners each have diverse experience to offer both to the store and to the community.Β
βWe all bring a unique set of skills to the shop including curation of product, community involvement, organization and unique vision for design, aesthetic and quality of art and design,β McGill said.Β
True Blue carries a handpicked selection of national and local retailers that are unique to Omaha.Β
Β βWorking here has allowed me to have a creative outlet while giving back to the Omaha community,β McGill said.
The store carries many different products β for example, local artist Stacia Hooverβs Metta Handmade organic skincare and body products. She began making the products out of necessity as she is allergic to most soap products, and soon enough the process took on its ownnartistic meaning.
βPacking is especially important and I want each product Metta offers to be a gift that could be presented as a piece of art; thereby an all-around experience,β Hoover said.
The rest of True Blueβs eclectic products range anywhere between handbags, jewelry, home decor, ceramics, hand-knitted articles and shadowbox frames.
The store also offers classes to the Omaha community that include both how-tos and professional classes. To sign up for them, simply follow the boutique on Facebook for more information.Β
There is no class offered for the month of November, but on Nov. 25 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. there will be a Makers Night where locals will have the chance to meet the artists and buy some of their work.Β
The boutique also will be hosting a βShake Your Trunkβ event to feature local makers and businesses on Dec. 13 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Slowdown, 729 North 14th St.Β
You can find more information about True Blue on its website, truebluegiftsandgoods.com, or find the shop on Facebook under the same name.Β
