Feb. 14 is almost upon us and many people, whether in a relationship or not, are making plans to celebrate the day of love. College of Arts and Sciences senior Nina Noronha is planning a Galentineβs day program for her residents on the third floor of Kiewit Hall called βChanning Tatum Tots!βΒ
βValentineβs Day is not only for couples,β said Noronha. βItβs a day to celebrate the many friendships that have been built, and I figured there was no better way to celebrate than with friends and tater tots!βΒ
On Tuesday and Wednesday, Creightonβs Violence Intervention and Prevention Center is hosting an event to stand up against victim blaming called βWhat Were You Wearing?β The event will respond to our cultureβs most pervasive rape culture myths. The exhibit will be open from 10 a.m. β 9 p.m. on Tuesday and 9 a.m. β 7 p.m. on Wednesday. There will also be a reception held on Tuesday from 5 β 7 p.m.
There are also plenty of things to do off Creightonβs campus. The Blackstone District recently hosted βHello Blackstone: Galentineβs Edition,β where women from all over Omaha celebrated a night out with their friends to enjoying shopping, hair blowouts, raffles and other activities held throughout the Blackstone District.Β
Nebraska Brewing Company is also celebrating the romantic atmosphere with some dinner specials. Enjoy roasted beet ravioli, miso marinated halibut, or pepper crusted ribeye with vanilla bean fathead fondue for dessert.Β
Not hungry? Head over to the Holland Performing Arts Center this Valentineβs Day at 7 p.m. and see YAMATO, the Drummers of Japan. YAMATO celebrates the ancient art of Japanese taiko drumming. According to the Holland Centerβs website, βIn a spectacular display of physical strength, performers leap from drum to drum to create exhilarating music.β
