Sokol Auditorium ready for upcoming Iration concert

Omaha’s Sokol Auditorium will be full of alternative-reggae music as the band Iration will play a show presented by the Slowdown on Sept. 27.

Iration comes to Nebraska as part of their Press Play Fall Tour and they will be playing the Sokol Auditorium located at 2234 S 13th St.

Iration recently released their self-titled album earlier this May, which includes 17 reggae-inspired tracks including the namesake of their tour, β€œPress Play.” According to Iration’s website, their reggae influence β€œis fused with elements of rock and pop to create smooth original sounds.”

Additionally, Iration has been touring since 2008, playing festivals such as Lollapalooza.

β€œThese Hawaiian-bred musicians look forward to spreading their original sound and Aloha spirit all the while never forgetting to get a surf in when possible,” according to Iration’s website.

Opening for Iration at the Sokol Auditorium are the bands Common Kings and Katastro.

Common Kings also released an album this year called β€œOne Day.” This seven-track album features pop-infused reggae songs, including the track β€œLock Me Up” which features Stephen Marley, Bob Marley’s son.

According to Common Kings website, the band took inspiration from musicians such as Stevie Wonder, Jim Croce, Michael Jackson, Earth Wind and Fire and Bob Marley to create their current sound.

β€œCommon Kings’ style and music is a collection of inspiration orchestrated into an array of head rocking beats, feel-good vibes, and emotional fever,” Common Kings’ website said.

While Iration and Common Kings both provide unique iterations of reggae, Katastro offers something different in their slightly more mainstream sound.

Katastro’s 2018 album β€œWashed.” highlights a mix of rock, funk, blues and hip hop.

Playing music since 2007, Katastro has opened for big acts such as Bad Religion, Awolnation, Dirty Heads, Method Man and Passafire.

All three of these bands can be seen on Sep. 27 at the Sokol Auditorium. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m.
