Coming off the Jays fourth top 25 win, Creighton men’s basketball has a chance to set a school record for most top 25 wins in a season when it hosts No. 21 Butler on Sunday.

The Bulldogs took down the Jays 71-57 earlier this season in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Jays shot just 39% from the floor and 18% from three-point range in that game. On the year, Creighton shoots 47% from the floor and 38% from three-point range.

It’s also important to note that in the first matchup, Butler was one of the hottest teams in the country. They were ranked No. 11 at the time and improved to 14-1 after beating Creighton, with their only loss being to Baylor, who beat them by one and is now the No. 1 team in the country.

Since beating Creighton, Butler is 5-7. Butler has the 12th lowest pace rating in college basketball according to Sports-Reference, meaning they have the 12th fewest possessions per 40 minutes.

While they will try to slow the game down against, Creighton’s offense has been firing on all cylinders during its streak of eight wins in nine games. In those nine games, the Jays are averaging 79.6 points per game, shooting 49% from the field and 41% from three-point range.

Butler has a solid defense, as evident by the first matchup between these teams. But, Creighton is the team riding a hot streak this time. The Jays are averaging 77 points per game and hold a 14-1 record at home.

It’s unlikely Creighton shoots as poorly as it did in the first matchup, and because they’re riding a hot streak and playing at home, Jays fans should have many reasons to feel confident against the Bulldogs.
