Hurts Donut Co. has a new location in Omaha, located off Blondo and N. 120th streets.Β
If you find yourself bored with a generic glazed doughnut, Hurts will no doubt become your new favorite shop to grab something sweet.Β
Hurts offers a wide range of doughnuts ranging from the classic Old Fashioned to more outrageous varieties, like Oreo Cheesecake and Fruity Pebbles.Β
When I visited the shop on a Sunday morning, there was a line snaking outside of the building. I was informed by staff that if I opted to skip the line, then I could get one of the pre-selected boxes which hold a dozen doughnuts chosen for you. I recommend taking the gamble here, because I was not disappointed β Iβm not really sure how you could lose with doughnuts anyway.Β
However, if you are a pickier eater and want to choose your own doughnuts, then you can enjoy your wait by taking in the quirky designs and colors inside the shop. There are even swings you can sit on as you wait. The shop also offers an outdoor seating area where you can enjoy your sugary snack.Β
The dozen doughnuts were all decorated by hand and made in the shop. And while I usually opt for more basic foods for my breakfast, there was something satisfying about eating a Samoa doughnut for my most important meal of the day.Β
These doughnuts are packed with flavor and are sure to fill you up, so make sure to bring along some friends to share them with. You can also order individual doughnuts, cinnamon rolls and other items. I think the thickness of the doughnut complements the overload of toppings Hurts is known for. If you are wary these doughnuts will be too sugary-sweet for your taste, I recommend you give Hurts a try anyway. I think youβll be pleasantly surprised.Β
My favorite varieties I tried were the Brownie, JesΓΊs and Samoa. According to its website, Hurts Donut Co. has more than 70 varieties of oversized specialty doughnuts. Clearly, there is something for everyone.Β
Hurts is a chain shop with now 20 locations in 10 states. All locations are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
