Finding a place other than the dining hall to eat in Omaha doesn’t have to be a challenge. Omaha has all varieties of food to offer. 

Mexican food is an easy go-to for most college students. Instead of Taco Bell, try D’leon’s Mexican Food on N 114th Street. They offer authentic, fast-food Mexican food and is a great way to support small business. 

Close to campus and neighboring Zen Coffee Company on Farnam Street is Voodoo Taco, a modern Mexican restaurant that offers affordable gourmet tacos. 

Good Italian food is right around the corner as well. Sgt. Peffer’s Cafe on N Saddle Creek Road has been a local favorite for over 25 years, featuring classic Italian recipes. 

La Casa Pizzeria off of Leavenworth Street has remained at its original location since 1953 and has a large neon sign outside, reminiscent of the time it was built. 

For a taste of India, look no further than Mother India for delicious Indian cuisine. Located on the corner of Leavenworth and S 36th Streets, this restaurant offers a great opportunity to step outside your comfort zone and can be an exciting new way to learn about a new culture and perhaps find a new favorite food. 

Another up-and-coming local Indian favorite is Curry in a Hurry off of Maple and N 83rd streets. The newer restaurant boasts a fast-food style menu, perfect for students on the go. 

Another restaurant to try if you’re looking to expand your horizons and learn about different cultures is Lalibela Restaurant off of Cass Street. The restaurant offers a variety of Ethiopian food and has 4.7 stars on Google. 

Tokyo Sushi features an interesting approach to all you can eat sushi. If you order too much you have to pay extra for what you don’t eat. This sushi stop is located on one of the main roads through the Old Market district, Howard Street, in the heart of the action. 

Three Happiness Express is a family owned Chinese restaurant in the heart of Omaha on Leavenworth and S 51st Street. It has 4.5 stars and over 1,600 ratings on Google. New, quality takeout restaurants are few and far between, this is one you can add to your list. 

Lola’s Cafe in Dundee provides the perfect place to grab breakfast or soup and a sandwich. It’s located just a short drive down Dodge on the corner of N 50th Street. 

Louie M’s Burger Lust Cafe has been a local favorite for years. Opening in the 1980’s as a catering service, it later transitioned into the restaurant it is today, serving breakfast and lunch seven days a week and dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. It’s located on Vinton Street and is yet another great way to support local businesses.
