One day wandering through my local drugstore, my stomach began to protest in pure hunger. In panic and anticipation of what I would pick for my snack to tame the beast of my stomach, one specific candy caught my eye. A beam of light shined down on a glorious orange wrapper with a hint of green. I couldn’t help but be drawn in by the beauty of this candy.
Once this chocolate bar was no longer in the drug store, but checked out and in my grasp, the taste was more impeccable than I could have ever imagined. This candy, work of art, and masterpiece is the Reese’s Take 5.
Recently Opinion Editor of the Creightonian Grace Clements, wrote a take on Reese’s products. Though her opinions were well said and agreeable, my heart was gutted that the best Reese’s candy was not only not labeled a top-rated product, but never mentioned.
I am here to say that in my opinion that the Reese’s Take 5 is the best Reese’s to ever exist, and I would even go the extra mile to deliver the news that this magical chocolate is the best one out there.
Before I get approached with pitchforks and mobs of different candy lovers, I ask that you take a moment to hear my reasoning on why this heavenly chocolate goodness is worth a try.
To begin the Reese’s Take 5 is not your average Reese’s. The peanut butter and milk chocolate combination is a great mix that Reese’s has been mastering for years. However, the Take 5 manages to add more to this combination and make an even better-tasting treat. Just like the name explains, Reese’s takes five ingredients to craft this delicious delight.
The makeup of this bar’s five main ingredients go as follows: Rich milk chocolate, creamy peanut butter, gooey caramel, crunchy peanuts, and the most important ingredient salty pretzel pieces. This team of different components, work together to create a salty-sweet partnership that surpasses anything just chocolate and peanut butter could create. Not only is the taste much better, but the texture while eating a Take 5 feels like a dream.
You have the softness of the chocolate, caramel, and peanut butter, with the powerful crunch of the peanuts and pretzels to balance out each bite you take out of this delectable piece of heaven.
Even though the taste and feel of the bar alone make a fantastic argument on how this candy wins any sweet tooth battle, there is also another key element that makes this chocolate better than the rest. This specific bar is a very well-kept secret.
After reading Grace’s take on Reese’s and pitching the very story you’re reading to her and her Assistant Editor, Ben Powers, to my shock, neither of them knew what a Reese’s Take 5 was.
The reason the Take 5 wasn’t in Grace’s article was simply because it never crossed her radar, Ben’s, nor a lot of people I talked to. In this process, I realized I was a chosen one, a lucky soul who was able to get my hands on this out-worldly creation. It is not only just select people in my life who know nothing about the Take 5, but a lot of people have no knowledge that this sweet exists.
Even Reese’s themselves in their 2020 Super Bowl commercial poked fun at this phenomenon with jokes asking if people were living under rocks, raised by a pack of wolves, etc., because people in the commercial never heard about this treat. It doesn’t help that it is so difficult to come across these candies anywhere in stores. When a Take 5 is discovered, it feels like you’re a pirate and found treasure.
You may ask, “If this candy is so good, why is it hard to find?” My humble opinion is that if the world discovered this candy creation, chaos would ensue simply just because of how good it is. Unfortunately, Reese’s is the only one who knows the true answer to why they hide their best craftsmanship.
So next time you are in your local drugstore or gas station, be on the hunt for the best-tasting and well-kept secret and try a Reese’s Take 5.
