Casey Thai Luong, better known as Vietnamese singer-songwriter Keshi, has released his long-awaited second studio album, titled “Requiem.”  

Sept. 13, 2024, was a day that completely changed the music industry for Keshi’s fan base. The artist’s last release, “GABRIEL,” was in 2022. He has been leaving his listeners in suspense, eager for another album release, for two years.  

Never heard of Keshi? He is an Asian artist based out of Houston, Texas. He has been writing songs for five years and has a whopping community of 9.1 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Keshi specializes in the music genres of R&B, pop and alternative and is known for many popular tracks, including “beside you” and “UNDERSTAND.” He has established himself worldwide and throughout the country.  

Without further ado, in a masterpiece encasing a collective of 13 remarkable and groundbreaking songs, this is “Requiem.” 

Track 4: “Soft Spot”: the crowd favorite. I rate this song an 11 out of 10. 

This song expresses the unexpected, undying love that you can have for someone. You may not realize how hard it is for you to fall in love with this person because of your way of thinking. 
“Don’t believe in love, but no one makes me feel like you do,” is one of the lyrics. You may be questioning how exactly it is possible to have strong feelings toward anyone when you don’t think love is real and you don’t seem to like anybody else.  
You seem to find yourself doing things you wouldn’t normally do for anyone; you’vedeveloped a soft spot for that person. This track has a calm vibe and lively feel that is perfect for studying, going on late night drives or even just chilling with that one person. 

Track 13: “Id”: a song that makes you feel like you’re floating. This song is a 7 out of 10. 

This track embodies a feeling of giving up and losing motivation, getting that rush of adrenalineand then disappearing again. The beginning of the song is very slow, but Keshi ends up switching the beat and flow and subsiding back into that slow and lost feeling.  

This song has great duality, is cinematic and tells a story. It is not to be casually listened to. It really showcases Keshi’s songwriting skills and powerful emotions.
