Wallows, an alternative rock and indie band, landed in Omaha on its first show of its second leg of the Model & More Tour. The night of Feb. 6 was a magical time for fans and something to remember. The venue for the performance, The Astro, housed a loud and booming crowd that kept the vibes electric and alive.
Dylan Minnette, Braeden Lemasters and Cole Preston made up the band with their individual musical talents. From electric guitar to bass, drums, keyboard and even the harmonica, Wallows put on quite a performance for the audience.
Throughout the show, there were minimal backing tracks used. The show featured mainly live music, which made the performance even more surreal. The band members were very interactive with the crowd and talked to fans as the show went on, making the performance more personal and heartfelt. Band member Braeden Lemasters decided to walk his way into the crowd so the people in the back could also have a chance at being up close to the artist.
To kick off their performance, Wallows members started with one of their older songs, βDo Not Wait,β and kept a curtain over themselves so only their shadows were visible to the crowd. The audience was kept in suspense, and they did a phenomenal reveal by dropping the curtain at the beat drop of the next song.
The setlist consisted of most of Wallowsβ new songs, a handful of its old ones and its newly released song, titled βYour New Favorite Song.β This was the first time this song had ever been performed live, so Omaha got an exclusive experience. At the end of the performance, the band members thanked the audience, sharing their appreciation for the crowd, then disappeared from the stage.
However, the show was not over yet. The lights stayed off, and the crowd chanted for them to come back on stage for an encore. After a few minutes, the lights flicked back on, and they did just that. Much to fansβ surprise, they performed two more songs, including their hit βAre You Bored Yet?β (featuring Clairo).
Wallows touched hearts, as most of its songs have an emotional, sentimental feel to them. The band membersβ voices are very distinct and diverse but work well together. Even with such different voices and talents, Wallows has produced a variety of songs. You are sure to find a song that fits your taste. If you have not yet, give Wallows a listen.
