Pizzera Davlo’s deep-dish debut delights

What is it?: Pizzeria Davlo, within its first two months of opening and located on Fort Street in West Omaha, prides itself in Chicago-style deep dish pizza and other Italian dishes. It has received high praise from local Omaha customers, scoring four and a half stars on Yelp.

What’s good?: I’d like to start by saying that the food is delicious. It’s not common to find places in Omaha that serve primarily deep-dish pizza. I also really like the restaurant’s calm ambiance, and the staff was extremely engaging and friendly. Also, you certainly won’t be in want of food quantityβ€”the leftover pizza in my fridge will probably last me the next week and a half.

What’s bad?: Although I wouldn’t say there was anything bad about the restaurant itself, the drive from Creighton’s campus is about a half an hour, even if the food is well worth it. The location is somewhat obscure and difficult to find via Google Maps. As is typical with deep-dish pizza, the wait for food is about 45 minutes, so if you want to fully enjoy a meal here, set aside a good block of time.

What should I order?: Deep-dish or Flying Tomato crust pizza, as well as the bruschetta appetizer.

What do Creighton students think?: β€œThe atmosphere was very calming and the service was very personal because the restaurant is still relatively new,” Arts & Sciences sophomore Ryan Malone said. β€œEverything was stupendously delicious.”
