Undergraduate students got the chance to learn about research opportunities at the second annual Research Fair.
Sponsored by the Center for Undergraduate Research and Scholarship (CURAS), the fair featured faculty researchers and students who had completed a research project. Students perused the 25 tables to explore the different options offered by the departments.
βUndergraduate research is one of the high-impact educational processes that students can experience,” said Juliane Strauss-Soukup, a chemistry professor and the CURAS director.
Creighton University was recently awarded a special designation by U.S. News & World Report as one of the βTop Schools for Undergraduate Research/Creative Projects.β Out of the top 32 colleges and universities, Creighton University was the only Catholic university listed.
About 300 prospective researchers attended the research fair. Katy Coleman, a College of Arts & Sciences junior, was one of the many students who attended the fair.
βGoing to the research fair showed me all the possibilities that could come out of being a part of a research project,β Coleman said. She plans on discussing further possibilities with her adviser within the next few weeks.
Students can go to the CURAS website for more information about research opportunities.
