Creighton mourns loss of student

In an email sent to the Creighton community this morning, the Rev. Daniel Hendrickson, S.J., shared the news that Arts & Sciences junior Christina Miller died yesterday.

“Our prayers are with the friends and classmates of Christina and with her family members who are mourning today,” Hendrickson said in his email.

Miller was majoring in physics and biochemistry and was very involved in the Creighton community. Over the summer and this semester, she participated in the Biophysical Optics Research Group under Dr. Michael Nichols. In August, Miller won first place for best oral presentation at the Nebraska IDeA Networks for Biomedical Research Excellence.

Miller was also an active member in Cortina, Physics Club and the Center for Undergraduate Research and Scholarship.

Arts & Sciences senior Kathleen Troup participated in research with Christina and said she hopes Christina is remembered for her intelligence and great sense of humor.

β€œNo one could make me laugh quite like her,” Troup said.

A Mass was celebrated for Christina in St. John’s Church today at noon. There will be a rosary for Christina in lower St. John’s at 4:30 p.m.

The Center for Health and Counseling is welcoming walk-ins today and next week. For faculty and staff, Employee Assistance Program counselors are available.Β
