Women’s basketball ends season against South Dakota

Despite cutting a 16-point second half deficit to three with less than two minutes to play, the Bluejays season ended their in the first round of the WNIT on Thursday.

Senior forward Alexis Akin-Otiko scored 23 points to lead the Creighton women’s basketball team, but Nicole Seekamp’s scored 21 and Raeshel Contreras had 14 to lead South Dakota to a 68-58 victory.

The Jays end their season 17-14.

Creighton trailed 61-58 with 1:49 to play, but South Dakota ended the game on a 7-0 run.

The Coyotes jumped out to a 30-12 lead and the Bluejays never led.
