Creighton employees came together to donate a carload of items to flood victims in Cedar Rapids on short notice this week. The Salvation Army transported the items to the flood victims on Tuesday, arriving in a 53 foot truck. The Junior League of Omaha notified the Creighton community about the victims’ needs. “It was just amazing how quickly folks responded to the Salvation Army’s call for help and also how generous they were,” Susan Reaves, associate manager of the Theology Department said in an e-mail interview. “The Creighton response was especially gratifying to me as it is summer and fewer people tend to be on campus.” The donated items included bottled water, brooms and bleach, among others. Reaves said the items should be used in the cleanup process.
