Despite allowing just four shots on goal, the Bluejay women were unable to stop Iowa, who handed the Jays their third loss in the last four games.
The Jays were 4-2-0 heading into their matchup with the Hawkeyes, who beat the Jays at home last year 1-0. Alyssa Cosnek and Keli McLaughlin scored the goals for Iowa, one in each half.
Senior forward Marcy Gans had a chance to score on a penalty kick in the 76th minute, but she missed wide.
Missed opportunities were the key to the game, according to Creighton coach Bruce Erickson. “They had about three real good opportunities, and capitalized on two of them. We had five or six good chances, and weren’t able to finish any of them. At the end of the day, that ended up being the difference,” he told gocreighton.com.
The Jays will look to get back on track with a four-game home stretch starting on Friday against Stephen F. Austin.
