Ghouls and their catchers

Hummel Park – 11808 John J. Pershing Drive

This city park on the outskirts of North Omaha is one of the scariest spots in town. Urban legends peg this park as a site of animal sacrifices and Indian burial grounds. Visitors claim to hear screams at night. One noteworthy haunted area to visit is the Morphing Stairs of Devil’s Den; the stairs are said to change their count when walking up and down them. If you do decide to bravely explore Hummel, don’t go alone. Victims of recent murders have been found in the park.

Brother Sebastian’s Steakhouse and Winery – 1350 S. 119th St.

For dinner, Brother Sebastian’s Steakhouse and Winery is a cozy, romantic restaurant with rave reviews. The intimate atmosphere is great for a classy dinner date, but don’t stay too long. At night this upscale eatery is said to transform into a ghost house. Accounts of doors opening and closing and candles being relit by themselves have been told by the staff. The rumor is that a frequent diner, who died from cancer, still haunts the restaurant when it gets dark.
