Men win while women fall

The No. 3 men’s soccer team bested Bradley 2-0 on Saturday.

Freshman Nick O’Neil scored in the first half for the Jays, and senior Andrei Gotsmanov scored in the second half, giving the Jays padding on their lead.

Creighton’s defense continued to dominate as the Braves were allowed only five shots in the game, none of which were on goal. It was the second time this season that an opponent has not been allowed a shot on goal.

The shutout gives the Jays nine on the season and extends their away streak to 9-0-2. The Jays are also unbeaten in their last eight conference matches, dating back to last season.

The Bluejay women fell 3-2 at Missouri State Sunday, the last game of their three-match roadtrip.

The Jays were down 3-0 in the second half, but mounted a comeback with 25 minutes left in the game. The comeback was not enough, however, and the Jays moved to 2-2-0 in conference play and 10-5-0 overall.

Sophomore Tara Bailey ended the shutout for the Bears with her first goal of the season in the 65th minute. Senior Marcy Gans scored the second goal for the Jays, her 13th this season, in the 71st minute. The goal for Gans puts her into a tie for third on Creighton’s single season scoring list.

Senior keeper Kristen Casey racked up nine saves while the Jays were outshot 17-9.

The women return home to face North Dakota on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The men will remain on the road, heading to Springfield, Mo., to face Missouri State Tuesday at 7 p.m.
