Baseball drops season opener

The Jays fell 8-6 in their season opener against Sam Houston State on Friday night in Huntsville, Texas.

Creighton scored first, when sophomore third baseman Jimmy Swift hit his first career home run in the second inning, which was a two-run shot to left field. Sam Houston State tied the game at the bottom of the inning and took the lead 3-2 lead in the bottom of the third.

Creighton and Sam Houston State will face off again in a doubleheader on Saturday.
