Softball tops SLU in Tulsa

The Bluejays continued their success at the Tulsa Select Festival Friday by adding another victory to their season.

The team scored its highest run total since the 2000 season en route to an 18-5 victory over the SLU Billikens. Junior utility player Renae Sinkler jumpstarted the scoring barrage early in the first with her first career triple that scored senior shortstop Bailey Dawson and the Jays never looked back. Sinkler continued her career day after she blasted her first career grand slam in the fourth inning to give the Bluejays a 15-run lead.

Two freshmen on the team had memorable days in Tulsa Friday. Freshman catcher Lauren Larson hit her first career homerun in the fourth inning. She finished 1-for-1 with 2 RBI. Freshman pitcher Alexa Mackevicius made her collegiate debut and pitched the final two innings for the Jays.

The win pushes Creighton to 5-2 on the season.
