The Lady Jays suffered their first loss in nearly a month and a half. The Bradley Braves topped Creighton 75-67 in a tale of two halves Thursday night.
CU shot 40.6% from the field in the first half while holding the Braves shooting to just under 44.8% to go into halftime down 33-34. The second half was a different story as Creighton shot just 30.6% from the field and Bradley ran away with the game going up by as much as 19 en route to their 10 point victory. The Jays defense gave up a season-high 75 points. During its 11-game winning streak, Creighton’s opponents never scored higher than 65 points.
Kelsey Woodard scored 17 of her 19 points in the first half going 7-for-10. She would only score one basket after halftime. Chevelle Herring added 15 points having four three-point shots.
The loss drops Creighton to 11-3 in conference and 16-9 overall on the season.
Creighton returns to the court hoping to shake off its loss and maintain its second place standing in the conference as it faces the Northern Iowa Panthers in Cedar Falls, Iowa on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 3:05 PM CST.
