A smiley face stained with blood promotes the comical yet dark side of our world. However, humans have no one to blame but themselves.
From the director of 300, Zach Snyder brings us Watchmen. A film set in the 80’s, from when we were both fighting for peace and starting wars, shows us an uncommon perspective of life as a team of superheroes protect the world from nothing more than the actual human being.
The film itself takes on an artsy form, with a great classic soundtrack that connects all members of the audience. Even with the many violent and gruesome scenes, it still wasn’t too much for a romantic-comedy enthusiast like me. It is a great movie whether you are with a date or a group of friends.
The movie Watchmen derived from one of the first superhero comics, in which most of the classic superheroes we know about today were inspired by. Each superhero takes on its own persona as they attempt to save the world from a WWIII, but encounter dilemmas and battles of their own in doing so.
Overall, the movie was very excellent and had every audience member burst into applause. Even though at times it felt a little long, it had your attention soon after with twists in the plots, making you gasp at unexpected turns and shocking scenes.
It is a highly recommended film on my part, and from what I have heard, even those who have read the actual comic, still loved it.
Watchmen hits theaters everywhere on Friday, March 6th.
