The Bluejays improved to 5-8 overall and 2-1 in the Missouri Valley Conference with a five-set win over Indiana State Friday. Scores of the match were 25-21, 21-25, 26-28, 25-21, 15-12.
It was the Jays’ first five-set victory this season as well as their second straight win. They never trailed in the first set, only to fall to Indiana State comebacks in the second and third. The Bluejays swung the momentum back their way in the fourth and fifth sets to clinch the win.
Senior middle blocker Jessica Houts and senior outside hitter Sarah Schulze both had season highs in kills, with 19 and 11, respectively. As a team, Creighton posted 59 kills, six aces, 54 digs and 13 blocks.
Creighton remains on the road this afternoon to take on Illinois State, who fell in five sets to Drake Friday.
