Who knew that such a popular leisure activity could create so much controversy?

In Berlin last week, the International Olympic Committee’s executive board voted to recommend golf be included in the 2016 Olympic games. However, some view golf as a very homogenous and affluent sport that may send the wrong message to the world if put in such a public spotlight. Others, however, still contend that golf is, well, still just a sport and, given its lack of contact, there is very little cause for concern if it was integrated into the 2016 Games.

My biggest concern is that we are trying so hard to be “politically correct” and abstain from hurting people’s feelings that we may have gone overboard. If we want to be more “cooperative” on an international level, perhaps we should deal with nuclear disarmament. Let’s start there.
