Favorite Summer Movies –
The Hangover – Everyone can find something to laugh at in the movie and it just gets better every time you see it.
District 9 – Peter Jackson and and Neill Blomkamp did a fantastic job creating a sci-fi movie that entrances you from the moment it begins. It really takes you on an emotional ride as well as being imaginative and thought provoking.
(500) Days of Summer – This non-traditional film directed by Marc Webb shows a relationship that pretty much everyone can relate to in some way. The organization of the film, jumping to random days throughout the relationship, is not hard to follow and reminds the viewer of how they remember relationships (all the good, with only a little bad).
Favorite Summer Concerts –
blink-182 – The pop-punk trio’s reunion tour came to Council Bluff’s Westfair Amphitheatre for 89.7 The River’s River Riot concert. Openers were Chester French, Panic! at the Disco and Fall Out Boy. This was the band’s first tour in five years but they seemed like they never skipped a beat. The wild concert got stopped twice, for safety reasons, leaving the crowd without a Travis Barker drum solo.
Josh Groban – The classical pop singer came to Qwest Center Omaha on Aug. 31st and toured in support of his third and latest album, 2006’s Awake.
Favorite new restaurants –
Wheatfields opened a new location downtown at 12th and Howard. The eatery and bakery is now offering Midwest fare in the Old Market. Be sure to try the Creme Brulee Waffles.
